Brant was led by Wayne Falk, 2 hit shoutout, Tony Puntillo, 2 hits, HR, and 3 RBI's, and Hector Wilson, 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Beer will be provided at practice Sunday by Joe Hill, who struck out in his first at bat. Next up for Brant is a home game vs Lake Shore, while Reserve travels to North Evans.Scranton 20 Angola 17

Angola travelled to Scranton for opening day of the 2006 season. After
falling behind 20-11 after 5 innings, Angola made things interesting
with a late rally in the top of the sixth but fell short as the game was
called on account of darkness by the umpire after 5 1/2 innings.
Scranton travels to face cross-town rival Woodlawn next week.
Managers note: Umpire was Excellent!!!
Woodlawn 25 East Seneca 14

WOODLAWN STARTED FAST ON THE DEFENDING CHAMPS WITH 5 IN THE FIRST.WOODLAWN GOT HOMERUNS FROM MARKO,LT,MICHAEL GEORGE,AND THE VIN MAN.SPECIAL THANKS TO CHARLIE FOR MAKING IT IN FROM GODS COUNTRY TO CHEEEER US TO VICTORY. NEXT UP FOR WOODLAWN IS SCRANTON AT WOODLAWN. EAST

Editors Note.....When did Charlie Zahm move to Brant?North Evans 17 Big Tree 14

Jacks hazard strikes out for the third time in his ecvfsa career. Big tree also laid the lumber to his wicked knuckle curve going up 10-8 through the first five innings. Coach Brian Devine (the Duke) uses his all telling wisdom, bringing in Bobby Bad Breath Reed. Bob gets the win, and the player of the game, for striking out three along with three crucial RBI's. Honorable mentions: steve fininzio hit a monster home run, Ryan Desantis, the duke and Todd Johnson all 4-5. WInchester 19 Highland 1

Winchester beat Highland 19-1 in the opening game for both teams.
Winchester's "Rico" Blonski went 4 for 4 with a home while Decker,
Steinwandel, and McGowan each scored 3 runs. One member from each team
struck out and were introduced to a few cold ones as both teams sang
the usual chant.

ATTENTION..we now have a message board for the website...it is pretty basic, but will work for now.....<http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=83610>

Week 2 Brant 9 Lake Shore 8

Lake Shore traveled out to the Brant Town Park for the second straight week and left with another heartbreaking loss. The Brant bats were asleep for the first 5 innnings, as Chet was throwing a gem. Lake Shore took a 8-1 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning, but Brant tied tied it with 7 in the 6th. Wayne Falk kept Lake Shore off of the score sheet in the 7th, and the Brant boys pulled out the victory in the bottom of the 7th. Vince Fininzio hit a one out triple and was driven in by Jeff Renaldo for the winning run. Great game overall. Next up for Lake Shore is Union, while Brant travels to Vigilant. North Collins 24 Highland 2

NORTH COLLINS PLAYED HIGHLAND ON A COLD AND RAINY NIGHT IN NC ON THURSDAY THE 11TH.NC WON THE GAME 24 TO 2.THE BATS OF THE HOME TEAM WERE HOT EVEN THOUGH THE WEATHER WAS COLD.HIGHLAND SEEM TO HAVE FUN, WE WERE ALL READY TO GO WATCH THE HOCKEY GAME WITH BEER AND DOGS. Woodlawn 19 Scranton 3

home runs by STICK BOY and LT led woodlawn to victory. big ernie had a good day on the mound.Big Tree 26 LE Beach 11

The bats finally broke through for Big Tree as they beat Leaky Beach in 5 innings 26-11. After walking in the first 5 runs of the game, Big Tree responded first inning where everyone got to touch home plate twice. Tom Makin came on in relief for Big Tree and pitched 4 strong innings allowing just 4 more runs to go with his 5 for 5 day at the plate. Next up Big Tree travels to Scranton while Leaky Beach hosts North Collins.

on a side note the umpire we had for todays game was probably the best we had all year

Week 3 Brant 11 Vigilant 4

Brant traveled to Dorrance Park for the 2nd time in 2 weeks and defeated Vigilant 11-4 on a blustery day in West Seneca. Brant was led by Joe Hill, double, triple and 2 RBI's and 2 RBI's from Tater Hill. Next up for Brant is Lake Erie Beach, while Vigilant hosts Lake Shore.

North Evans 17 Lake Erie Beach 4

It was a cold blustery evening off the shores of Lake Erie. As North Evans and Lake Erie Beach were about to embark on a cold journey through seven innings of softball. Steve Fininzio and Ryan Desantis Both had a good day at the plate going 4-5. Alan (choo choo) Hazard struck out and hit a home run while Todd Johnson had a terrible day going 0-5. James (who makes fun of John adimey online) Atzrott had a good defensive game along with jonny cala and ryan Desantis. Final score was 17-4 north Evans wins. Free coffee at Jeanies Cafe for the N.E. Boys the rest of the season. Thanks Brian Woodlawn 19 Big Tree 0

A grand slam by Mark Warsaw and great pitching by Mike Weller led the way for Woodlawn. Bigtree just could not get anything going on Woodlawn's defense. Woodlawn is home against Angola and Lake Erie Beach this week.

Week 4

Brant 16 Lake Erie Beach 0Brant headed down the road to Lake Erie Beach for a chilly late May Ball game. Brant was led by Wayne Falk( 5 Hitter), David Pero(4 hits, 2 RBI), Tony Puntillo(3 hits, 2 RBI), Tater Hill(3 hits, 3 RBI), and a HR from Mike Hoch. Next up for Brant is another trip to Dorrance Park in West Seneca. North Evans 15 Union 0

North Evans hit the road again this week and played union at dorrance park. Alan (choo choo) Hazard struck out again for the second straight game. This is an unheard of event in a hitters league. Bobby(bad breath) Reed pitched a great game shutting out union 15-0 through 6. Every body played good and ryan desantis just wanted me to put his name in the game re cap again. For the last leg of the road trip N.E. travels out to sunny brant to play Farnham thursday night. WOODLAWN 24 ANGOLA 4
HOME RUNS BY MARKO AND BEAN DIP IN THE FIRST INNING SENT WOODLAWN TO ANOTHER VICTORY. MIKE WELLER DID A FINE PITCHING TO GET THE WIN. PAT MAC DID A GREAT JOB CATCHING EVEN THOUGH HE TOOK A BEATING. UP NEXT THE BOYS FROM LAKE ERIE BEACHWinchester 18 North Collins 13

NORTH COLLINS AND WINCHESTER BOTH PLAYED A GREAT GAME ON TUESDAY.NC JUMPED OUT TO A BIG LEAD AND WATCHED IT SLIP AWAY.FINAL SCORE 18 TO 13, IN FAVOR OF WINCHESTER.THANX TO RICH BLEY AND HIS SON CHRIS FOR BEING THE UMPSWeek 5

North Evans 22 Farnham 7North Evans completes the the last leg of their road trip as they travel out sunny Brant to play Farnham. Ryan desantis again for the fourth straight week gets his name in the game re cap going 3-4 with a base clearing triple. Alan Hazard didn't strike out this and Jack Hazard pitched a great game. Todd Johnson had a day at the plate going 3-4 with a couple RIB's. After the game a conversation between Todd and Bobby (bad Breath) Reed goes as follows. (Bob) I finally got my fifth wheel down to the glen and i love that NASCAR. (Todd) oh me to, high speeds, left turns and you know what the old shine runners used to say. (Bob) what whose got moon shine. (Todd) No you idiot, rubb'in racin. Union 21 Highland 6

Union dominated Highland 21-6 on Thursday. Every player for Union had
hits and runs during the game. Highland's Jim Beckley and Jeff Wattie
combined for 4 of the 6 runs. Phill Zygmunt had a strong showing in
left field and Nick Lindstrom got his first ECVFSA hit of his career.
He struck out in the 6th and, as a result, chugged a Pepsi back at the
hall.
Winchester 17 Orchard Park 12

Orchard Park found themselves down early in the game to Winchester and unable to score the needed runs until the sixth inning when the Orchard Park bats woke up. Orchard Park was down 14 - 6 in the top of the sixth and after a great inning at bat for OP they closed the gap to 2. Winchester made some great plays in the top of seven to add 3 more runs to their tally and then held their ground in the bottom of the seventh to stop OP's comeback. Next up for OP is a trip to Vigilant. Winchester will go visit the boys from North Evans Week 6Brant 5 Union 4

Brant Traveled to West Seneca for the 3rd time in 5 weeks on a crazy Tuesday in May. Brant was short handed due to Game 6 of the Buffalo Sabres vs Carolina game(Tater Hill and Tommy Whelan were at the Sabres game) and due to Joe Hill and his wife having their first baby(Veronica Lea Hill 5lb 14oz) early in the afternoon. Union came to play and gave Brant all they could handle in tight 5-4 victory for Brant. Brant was led by new Grandpa Billy Hill Sr( 2 Hits, 2 runs), Tony Puntillo(HR), and Dave Pero(2 Hits). Peter Pero, getting his first start, knocked in a run on his first career hit...Sounded like a great game. Brant plays Winchester this week in a HUUUUUUUGE divison game. Union plays cross town rival Vigialnt this Thursday. Woodlawn 28 North Collins 14

North Collins started strong going up by 7 in the 3rd inning but woodlawn put up 2 touchdowns and a field goal to go ahead by 10 in the 4 inning and never looked back. Mark Warsaw finnaly brought something to the table with 3 homerunes and a bunch of RBIS when we really needed them. Week 7Winchester 10 Brant 7

In a HUGE division game, the Brant Bats fell asleep and Winchester got a 3 run HR in the 5th, from Super Rook Mike McGowan, to top Brant 10-7. WInchester jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Brant fought back with 7 in the 4th to take the lead. Winchester took the lead for good in the 5th with a 4 spot. Great game overall. Thanks to Jim Kittner for umping the game for us. It was our 3rd game without an umpire. Woodlawn 24 Farnham 3

Woodlawn started fast again with home runs by BIG ERN,LT and a inside the park home run for TRIPLE A. Another fine pitched game by Ernie even though he was told he should retire. Little ernie won the cooler from Mike Weller. Nice job. Next up for Woodlawn is Lake Shore. EDITORS NOTE..the league needs to drug test Woodlawn....24 runs per game..they have to be juicing..especially Pupo North Evans 17 Angola 2

Thursday June 8th, North Evans stayed unbeaten, putting away
Angola 17-2.Angola showed up early tieing the score 2-2 in the
second, but it was all NE after that. Fininzio,Desantis, both Hazards, awe heck
everyone played well.Last years great conversation continued at
second, after Fininzio doubled to start the game,Todd from Todds Landscaping &
Steve from TMS Landscaping, again reviewed the rising stone and gas
prices.New-comer to the conversation was Bob Beck of Bobs Landscaping, Bob
called time out to state,"dah- thats why I only mow lawn in the
Village, the Village with an(GO)la in it.
Week 8Brant North Evans..cancelled

Brant North Evans was cancelled. A Make up date has not been set. Woodlawn 20 Lake Shore 4

Lakeshore started quick with 2 in the first but Woodlawn answered with 7 of their own to go ahead for good. Lakeshore thought they would hold Woodlawn under 20 runs but with Tygers bomb in the bottom of the 6th ended that dream and ended the game. I think the ball is still on Lake Ave if anyone needs one. Woodlawn is now on a bye week. NOTE TO EDITOR VINNIE HAS BEEN TESTED WE STILL HAVE NOT GOT THE RESULTS. WE THINK IT MAY BE THE COORS LIGHT Farnham 22 Highland 18

Farnham beat out Highland 22-18 in a back and forth game. Excellent
defense on both sides along with great hitting and base running made
this one of the more exciting games thus far. The umpire in this game
was horrible. He never came from behind the plate to make any calls in
the field...very inconsistent. The after game festivities were cut a
little short for the Highland boys due to a structure fire. However,
refreshments were still flowing when they returned. Pete Chiavetta from
Farnham decided to stick around late to have a "few more" with they
guys.
SUPER SATURDAY/Week 9

Once again Super Saturday is upon us. The games start at noon this Saturday and run through 6pm starts. North Collins will have beer/pop for sale. Hot dogs and burgers will be available $1 each. There will be a chicken BBQ in the afternoon. They will also have pull tabs and some music near the beer tent. I hope that all the teams find time to spend out there this Saturday, wether it be before or after your scehduled game (or both). Good luck to all teams. We will see you on Saturday. Frank Montaldi has told me that there will be camping available for anyone interested in camping out there this weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday - "primitive" Camping will be available to all who are interested so bring you r tents and/or campers and enjoy yourself at Super Saturday. EDITORS NOTE..Brant/Woodlawn has been cancelled... North Collins/North Evans has been cancelled...Brant will play North Collins at noon

Brant 14 North Collins 6Brant and North Collins kicked off Super Saturday on a nice Saturday in June. Brant started out hot, with 10 in the first 2 innings to win 14-6 over North Collins. Brant was led by David Pero(3/3 HR, 4 RBI's), Tater Hill(3/4, HR, 3 RBI's) and Vince Fininzio(3/4 4 runs scored). Next up for Brant is cross town Rival Farnham. Vigilant 21 Big Tree 10

Big Tree didnt show up for the first 4 innings and it cost them big time being down 17-0 going into the bottom of the 5th. As motivation to avoid the mercy rule, the manager offered ice cream to the team if 4 runs were scored in that inning, but Jason Beirings grand slam knocked in the 5th run of the inning, so the mercey rule was avoided but the ice cream was lost. Beirings 3 run home run in the bottom of the 7th just wasnt enough and Vigilant beat Big Tree 21-10.Week 10

Brant 15 Farnham 5Brant and Farnham squared off on a warm windy June day. Farnham, playing their 3rd game in 6 days, fell behind early and could not catch up. Brant won 15-5.Brant was led by David Pero(4/4, 3 RBI's), Tater Hill(3/4, 4 RBI's) and a HR from Tony Puntillo. Brant had a pre-game scare, as they had to go to their 2nd string water jug. Their starting jug disappeared in North Collins on Saturday. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of yellow Iggy, please let us know. Next up for Brant is a date with the defending champs...East Seneca. North Evans 13 Lake Shore 12

The rains came and went, and so did North Evans after a 13-12
win over Lake Shore.Field conditions were not great, but both team
played great. Lake Shore got hits from some unknown players, a grand
slam, triples and doubles were not enough for the hot bats of NE. They were
led by Galenda with a 3-run homer, clutch hitting by Al Haz,Jimmy A and
bad breath, game winning hit was by none other than Steve Fininzio. The
game however was capped of by a double-play the hard-way. A fly ball to
deep left field,Korhummel makes the catch and throws a BB to third base
where the runner was tagged out by at least three feet by Al
Hazard, who, if I may, played a great game defensivly. NOTE to editor: RYNO did
strike out!
Winchester 20 Vigilant 5

LED BY BRIAN "FREDO" FRIDMAN WITH 2 HOMERS AND MARK DECKER 1 HOMER AND SUPER ROOKIE MIKE McCOWAN WITH ANOTHER HOMER. WINCHESTER BEATS VIGILANT 20---5..JEFF BLONSKI ALSO HOMERED FOR VIGILANT...NEXT UP FOR WINCHESTER IS A VISIT BY LAKE ERIE BEACH.....AS VIGILANT TRAVELS TO PLAY NORTH EVANS..

North Evans 13 Vigilant 6After the rain stopped it was time to play ball. Vigilant
came to play scoring 2 in first, but feel asleep soon after that. Jack Haz
struck out 3,going 4-5 at the plate. Jimmy A homered and made 3 terrible
throws to first. Al Haz tripled despite almost snapping a duecer
rounding second. Fininzio played great D along w/ Johnson and
Korhummel, who, along w/ Ryno struggled at the plate.

Ryno still has not drank his strike out beer and is looking some serious consiquences
Final score was 13-6 Next up is E.Seneca for NE and Scranton for Vigilant.
Week 12

Woodlawn 13 Orchard Park 3Woodlawn bats started slow after a 2 week layoff but came alive in the 6th for 7 runs. Ernie had a great game striking out 5. In Woodlawn that wood be a lot of beer except for the kids because they are to young to drink. Its nice to see North Evans come back to earth and start to play the big boy's. Next up for Woodlawn is North Evans at our home away from home. I sure hope that they have the score board working.Week 13

Brant 22 Scranton 4Brant started out early with 12 in the first 2 innings to defeat Scranton 22-4 on a nice Friday night game. Brant was led by Tony Puntillo(4/5, triple, double), Joe Hill (4 RBI's), and Hector Wilson(3 RBI's). David Pero was nice enough to start the game off with a K....blue Light Dave. Next up for Brant is a home game vs Orchard Park.Winchester 17 Big Tree 7

BIG TREE STARTED WITH A 4---3 LEAD AFTER ONE INNING ,BUT THEN THE WINCHESTER BATS OPENED UP WITH A 13 HIT AND 14 RUN TWO INNINGS ..LED BY ADAM GRABOWSKI AND DAVID STEINWANDEL WITH A HOMER APIECE...WINCHESTER WINS 17----7...Woodlawn 22 Highland 7

Lt,little Ernie, and Beandip each hit home runs along with Dick Horvath getting 4 hits to lead Woodlawn to the win. Next up for Woodlawn is ReserveANNOUNCEMENT.....Brant vs North Evans has been scheduled for Monday July 31st 6:45PM at Brant...for anyone who cares......

WEEK 14

Brant 12 Orchard Park 3Brant started out quick with 8 in the first 2 innings to cruise to a 12-3 win over OP. Brant was led by the fin pitching of Wayne Falk, Tater Hill 3/3 3 RBI's, and David Pero 2 hits and 3 runs. Next up for Brant is a makeup game vs Woodlawn.Union 23 Big Tree 13

Union started off hitting in with six runs but Big Tree came back over the next two innings to make it 6-6 and it was a sea saw game going into the 5th inning 9-9 but Big Trees bats cooled down in the late innings and lost 23-13. Great game by both teamsWoodlawn 5 Brant 2

This game was a makeup game from Super Saturday. A pitchers battle took place as only 12 hits were allowed in the game. Brant struck first with a run in the first, and led by that score until a 5 run, 2 out rally by Woodlawn, blew it open in the 5th. Ernie Jewett and Wayne Falk pitched great games. Next up for Brant is next door neighbor Angola, while Woodlawn travels to face Winchester at Knox Rd Field in a battle of undefeated teams. Brant 22 Big Tree 2

Brant started out slow, but broke open a close game to defeat Big Tree 22-2. Tony Puntillo led Brant with 3 HR's, John Adimey, 4 RBI's, and the pitching of Hector Wilson and Tony Puntillo. This was the first of 4 games for Brant, as they played later that day in the Taste of Evans, Firemans one pitch tourney. Brant defeated Farnham, North Evans, and North Collins to defend their title. Week 16

Brant 18 Highland 1Brant scored early and cruised to an 18-1 victory over Highland. Brant was led by Joe Hill, 2 Monster HR's and 5 RBI's, and an inside the Park Grand Slam from Jeff Renaldo. Jeff hit his Bases loaded bomb under the ultimate of pressure. Brant has a rule that if you make 2 outs in an innning...you buy a 30 pack for the next game. Jeff had already led of the inning with a fly out to left. With all of his team mates cheering on the Highland Pitcher..Jeff came up huge. Next up for Brant is North Evans...should be a good one...Monday July 31st @ the Brant Town Park.North Evans 10 Brant 5
