Yes I am from East Seneca. I played in this league for seven years and we won or went to the Championship game 4 of those 7 years (only played Woodlawn once in those Championship games--AND WON). Anybody who played while I did, knew what I was about---leaving it all on the field !! I have read all of the posts on the subject of the "Big Game". I don't care what Kitty or anyone else says, bottom line is this... If you want your league, or any league for that matter, to have a legitimate Champion---you play the game !!! Yea, I know we might be missing this guy or that guy,---bull crap---there has to be a date that can be agreeable if the two teams REALLY want to settle it on the field. I know if I was still playing I would do all in my power to get my team to play the game somehow, someway in the near future. If the two teams don't find a way to get the game in, there will--and should ALWAYS be--an asterik next to the 2007 Champions name. I for one could not accept being handed the Championship this way, and if you are a true athelete, you couldn't either. Best of luck to all--Especially the new Bride and Groom.
DIDNT YOU EVER GROW UP W/ RULES AN REGULATIONS....WERE NOT PROUD OF WAY WE GOT IT, BUT THE LEAGUE HAS RULES TO FOLLOW, AN ABIDE BY AN IF JEFF NEW 2 YEARS AGO ABOUT THIS...AS STATED IN ONE ARGUEMENT, THAN SHAME ON THEM FOR NOT DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS UNTILL THE LAST MINUTE....TAKE IT UP W/ KITTY...FACT OF THE MATTER IS WE WANT OUR BEST TEAM TO PLAY THEM.....WHY SHOULD WE DO W/ OUT, WHEN IT WAS THERE WEDDING....WE WOULD HAVE PLAYED ANYTIME SAT....(AS LONG AS THERE WAS DAYLIGHT)...THEY HAD THAT PRESENTED TO THEM..AND IT WASNT GOOD ENOUGH......WHAT THE HELL DO YOU GUYS WANT....IT SUCKS...THIS WHOLE THING SUCKS...SO MUCH BITTERNESS CREATED OVER SOMETHING WE DIDNT CAUSE.....

theres only a few people talking against kitty...i think he has done a great job, everyone has hiccups...kinda like ties in allstar games, they just dont make sense
I joined my fire company in 1982 at the age of 18 because I felt it was important that there are the few who would give back to their community in this way. I was always told that your family, friends, and work came before the fire company and I've lived this way. I have seen many come through the doors that let the fire company lead their priorities. I don't see those people much anymore.....
In my fire company there are many things to do, we answer over 1200 calls a year, the training is time consuming, and as an Asst. Chief, I have many added duties to make sure my firefighters come back safe.
Because of all we ask of our members we offer many different things as a benefit for all that we expect, such as a dayroom with bar and a TV, golf outings, bowling, food after drill, tee shirts and jackets, picnics, campouts, a hockey team, a "SOFTBALL TEAM"......(see what I'm getting at)
This is the part where I would wish Jeff and his wife all the best, but he doesn't need it, He Already Has It!. He has a new beginning in his life, and the knowledge that his brother firefighters chose to put their family first before something as trivial as a softball game. All of us in this league are here for a greater cause, and that is what makes this something I enjoy being a part of, and makes me proud to say I play in the ECVFSA.
Maybe some mistakes were made that's arguable, but I do know decisions were made and that's applaudable. I enjoy playing every game win or lose, mostly because I know that when the game is done I can enjoy the company of my friends on both teams, knowing that the reason we were there was to have fun with our brother firefighters.
The good thing is that with every spring comes a new season, and with every mistake comes a lesson learned. Every family has fights, the best "families" learn to move on and grow stronger without looking to place the blame.
I just have one last thing to say about this whole Championship thing. Hey Kitty, pay attention. To resolve the whole thing what should have been done by you was this. Give both teams a certain amount of time (say Oct. 1st) to work it out and come up with a date that both teams could agree on to play the game. If a date could not be agreed upon, then East Seneca and Woodlawn should have been crowned co-champions for 2007, since they both progressed just as far in the playoffs. How could anyone disagree with that ?????
come on now ..."flapping your mouth"...cant we all just voice our opinions w/out being nasty.....this whole thing didnt ruin the season for just you guys....were really not happy about this contrary to what others believe...
i dont think anyone really thinks your happy with it, its just peoples stories make it seem like you didnt do anything to try to get around it except offer to play any time that day...maybe you guys can pick a day and hire an ump and just play...woodlawn is obviously the champions in the leagues eyes, so go out and prove it...if east seneca wins, admit they should be champs, put an asteick next to your name, and call it a day
