Brant defeated North Collins 8-7, in 8 innings, to win the 2006 ECVFSA Championship on Sunday. This was one of the better games I have been a part of. Brant started out early with 3 runs in the top of the 1st, but was quickly answered by 3 from North Collins in the bottom of the 1st. The score stayed this way until the top pf the 6th. Brant put together a rally to take a 2 run lead, but once again North Collins answered with 4 in the bottom of the 6th. North Collins took a 2 run lead into the 7th inning, but could not hold it down. John Adimey started the 7th inning rally with a single and was driven in by a Huge Pinch Hit triple from Jason Seneca. Jay was then driven in on a double from David Pero. North Collins held it there, and with Wayne Falk now out of the game, Vince Fininzio had to come in and shut the door. He pitched a scoreless 7th, allowing Brant another crack at it. Tony Puntillo led off the 8th with a mammoth HR to left to give Brant a 1 run lead. Vince was helped in the 8th by the D of Joe Hill in right(4-4 at the plate too) with 2 great grabs. Vince then caught a line drive up the middle to put it away. Truly a great game by all.
