I've been hearing crazy things lately, such as putting a age limit for players. This is crazy. For years this league has run itself ,along with a little common sense.Managers need to show up to meetings to voice there concerns. The teams make the decisions not 1 person. That one person runs the meetings, not the league.

You are absolutely right Alan that is why we are having this meeting to see what the league wants to do.

There should'nt even be a meeting, if you are not a ACTIVE fireman in your company, you can not play in the leagueas per our By-laws.

Al:
When the league was formed the ECVFBL required that all fireman be at least 18 years of age which provided our league with an automatic minimum age requirement. Just recently I was informed that the option of minimum age can be set by individual districts. What this has created is that some teams will have 16 and 17 year olds playing. The purpose of the meeting is to make all teams aware of this and to get there input as to how the league wants to proceed regarding age.

See you saturday
Jim

jim,  First the league is the ECVFSA(Erie County Volunteer Firemans Softball Association)Next, each fire company can set the age limit to be a active fireman, and as far as I know, there is not any fire company in Erie County that allows 16-17 year olds to be active fireman.Article IV    section 1 states only active members of affiliated fire companies are eligible to play.Section2 states active members are defined as any member who is covered by disability benefits (compensation) by his fire district or fire company. So, if the league decides to come up with some crazy ruleing, it better have the paper work to back it up.

I for one am against this possible rule change. 16 - 17 year old players are too young and too fast for this old catcher to throw out stealing. So Brant votes no to this topic. Christ, Charlie Zamm is 45 and I have enough trouble with him. Luckily he rarely gets on base so its not much of a problem.

Right, Al, just like 2005? Yeah, the teams make the decisions...... When they are invited to the "Special Meetings", right Al?

ooops, sorry, I made a mistake. Lets try 2004. At least I can admit that I made a mistake.

Hows MY team doing? Well, MY team has only lost one game this year. In case you have not been keeping tabs, which suprises me, I am no longer with my old team. I don't  even live in the Buffalo area anymore. This board is just so funny, I can't keep from laughing. Why is there only 6-7 people on this thing?

But, lets face it, Al, you know what you did 2 years ago, and so does everybody else. Anyway, how is the league this year? Still the same? W.S. teams still stacking their teams? I know I'm not in the league anymore, but what would be the big deal if the 16-17 year-olds were allowed to play? You know as well as I know that it takes alot more than youth to win in this league. Let 'em try and when they don't succeed, it will just be the same as it was.

it is nice to see that someone is not afraid to play against the kids. we let girls play anywhere they want be it really makes me wonder why we would worry about a kid playing. at least in woodlawn we play the kids were they should play. we are worried about the ladies playing so as chuckie would say ahh i better not go there or we will be serving the food ourselves.

You have some bitterness, what could of made your season better/ Anyway, this league has turned into a free for all, look at the stupid playoff schedule, the president is'nt even a fireman and does'nt live in anyones district. At least we had good umpires, everyone was on the same page and guys actually enjoyed tring to make the league better.

No not really no bitterness here ecvfsa was the best league i ever played in. Every league has its flaws. There are alot of teams in this league you will never make everyone happy.Anyway is really about softball or what kind of beer you have after yhe game that matters.Ps Lets go east seneca.
