The big reason for it was we played at Lakeshore and the guys were hitting home runs. Also there was at least 15 to 20 walks. I think there was 3 grand slams. Even Chuckie hit one out.
We did ask them if they wanted to stop the game early and they said no. What are we supposed to do. Last year when we stepped off bases and made outs on purpose we were called *******s then too. So I guess we can"t win even when we win.
heres an idea....instead of hitting the ball in the air and over the fence every time maybe hit a ground ball. At least when we get our as$es handed to us by brant we have fun while playing and at their hall after
BigArm-11 OP-16 Fun game except when Andy kicked Toby in the head on a chinker, Andy caught the ball and Toby needs a new pair of sunglasses and to stop bleeding sometime by tomorrow.
Farnham brought their 'A' game to North Evans thursday night.Hits and errors were plentyful in the first two innings as Farnham posted 9 runs on at least 9 hits to go with 3 walks. North Evans settled down and chiped away at the lead with key hits by Galenda(triple),Johnson(hr),J.Hazard (2doubles),A.Hazard(triple).No show for the umpire made for a tough strike zone for both teams all night, great game, don't take the boys from Farnham lightly, also great game played by Farnhams catcher shuting down the bunt.
why do you need the sportmans trophy? havent you guys gotton it enough?? how about you give teams a chance and play fair. we are all brothers here, lets get along! if you think killing the ball over the fence and detroying people in a game is fun, its not. your making teams leave the league and go else where. all we want to do is come and have fun, and its not fun playing you guys. close games are the best, losing by one or winning by one is a great game. losing 48 to 1 is repulsive.
Playing BigArm last night was a tight game having fun, joking around. Toby taken a foot to the eye... (No Stitches) giving up a few runs towards the end and coming out with a win. Great game for both teams..
I do have to say we did have WOODLAWN last year in the championship game 8 to 1.... but rain had to come and they cancelled the game... Maybe we should do some recruitment of players to play ball and then resign after the season? oh no we fire fighters at heart and we do the real work and then have the fun after the job is done!
Thanks for the compliment guys! That was probably the most exciting game we ever played in. We have a few things we are going to work on for the rest of this season and the next season. Our "Young Guns" looked pretty good out there last night. Thanks for all the cold ones. Always good there at the fireman's park. Bob

Next up Brant!!!!
I do not mind you guys talking smack against us. I actually like it and we may even deserve it. But get some things straight when you do it. Woodlawn did not play OP in any championship game last year. We played North Collins. Second thing I do not think Woodlawn ever won a sportsman's trophy. Third thing Woodlawn would like nothing more than playing close games and not have blowouts like we had. If we use our ball team for recruitment and we get people to join that is a good thing. Fourth thing is I do not think you can tell me any Ballplayer that Woodlawn recruited and quit the next year. Fifth thing is of the 12 guys that are on the team 6 are officers 3 are full time out of town college students and 3 are regular firefighters. I would put that ratio up against anybody. So when you talk smack know what you are talking about.
Chad, Pat is correct, you are off the mark on a lot of your points here. I understand your passion, but Woodlawn has a great team. I've been playing in this league since before you were born (Holy S**t!) and most of these guys have been a firefighter there just as long as I have. My point was purely simple, everyone on that team hits good enough to hit grounders if they choose to, not over the fence homers. I wasn't there, I don't know if the homeruns came early and then they did hit grounders or not. I do know 48 runs is by far the most I've ever heard of in our league. From what I heard last night, a few of BigArms starters were not there, maybe that was the reason. Only the Woodlawn team knows if they ran the score or not. I hope that was not the case, which was my point in the sarcasm of my earlier post.
Pat, You are correct in defending the fact that your players are firefighters first, that is the point of the league. I've been to many of your installation dinners, and I can verify that most of your officers are also on the team. People say the same about Brant, But when I'm working and go to one yours or Brants fire calls, I know most of the guys.
For the record our team, 1 Chief, 1 Captain, 5 Lts, 1 VP, 2 Engineers, 1 Chiefs aide, and 2 Blackhats.

Lets get one thing straight about the Brant Bombers. We, DO NOT, recruit ball players. We grow them. Right next to the grapes and the corn. Stop bitching about the score of that game, stop out to gods country ,aka. Brantsylvania and purchase some seeds from Joe Hill and Hector. Grow your own , and practice. Thats the name of the game. Have fun, summer is almost over.
ALSO KUDOS TO BIG ARM FOR NOT QUITTING AND PLAYING OUT THE WHOLE GAME. NOW THATS THE MAIN THING WE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT, BIG ARM'S LOVE FOR THE GAME, AND NOT THE SCORE!!!
