If anyone has an interest in puting a team together for a small 4 team firefighter hockey league please post your thoughts on here. Orchard Park and West Seneca firefighters already have teams, and if we could put together 2 more from Hamburg and Evans it could be a fun winter. let me know your thoughts. I can handle most of the league, just need teams to handle there own club players.
Where-Leisure rinks/Holiday rinks, When-weekend nights, probably Sunday night 10pm range, How- Maybe start with a 4 team league, we already have OP and WS, I talked with some Firefighters from Depew/Cheektowaga who play, and I would like to get a team from Hamburg/Evans. There will be some rules (besides hockey game rules) such as # of non-firefighters allowed per team, I would like to have it like softball where you must be an active member to play to try and even out teams, I can see allowing a goalie if needed from outside. I want to have games scheduled each weekend with team 1 vs. team 2, team 3 vs. team 4, then next weekend, 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 4, ect. I want to keep it light and fun, maybe after each month the last place team gets to trade 2 players for anyone in the league they want for 1 month, then those players would return. This would even it up, I'm open to all ideas.
The main purpose would be to have fun with your brother firefighters, get to know guys from other companies, get off the couch for some exercise in the winter, basically it would be like having a pickup games with a Ref.
It would be the same cost for every player in the league. 17-20 players per team 2 sheets of ice per weekend 2 refs per game USA hockey insurance and ID cards Jerseys (numbers only- no names) should be about $200 per player for a 12 week season (January thru March)
We already play every Sunday night now, so we have half the ice time needed, there are Mostly OP Firemen playing, but we have a couple from Highland, and Newton Abbott, and W. Seneca has players from E. Seneca, Union, Seneca Hose- spread the word and I'll make it happen, I've already spoke to the rinks, so the ball is in our court right now.
a full team from hamburg/evans/brant all that area might be possible. Tater, talk to Tommy Lederhouse, he plays with us every week and has some guys from Highland
Another idea may be to rent the ice every week and play pick up hockey...I dont think I will be able to get a team together out here, unless Tommy has 6-8 guys...
Tater, I have myself and 2 other guys from Highland right now. And possibly a golie!! Let me know what you have, this sounds like a good idea, we have a lot of fun playing now. We have 10:30 ice at Leisure rinks in Orchard Park this Sunday night. If anyone is interested to see what we are all about, come out and watch for a while. Like Chris said it is pretty much pick up hockey, and we play no checking!!( well no intentional checking that is)!!! And it is a lot of different skill level players so dont be afraid to try!!
I dont think North Collins could get a wh,ole team together but im sure a few of us would play, but i dont even know who all has all the right equipment for it.
I know I do, I played for two seasons at Medaille College, so I have all the stuff, if theres room on a team that needs a player let me know, I'd be down.

Me, Aron and possibly Kyle, depending if he has all the equipment, he may be missing some random pads here or there. I know Aron and Kyle havent played much, so, but I'm not Gretzky either, but its what we'd have for now probably.
